About Us

With a vision for building something meaningful, Dr. Becky Tees brings a blend of big-picture thinking and hands-on experience to Ultra Vet.

Dr. Tees is a 2018 graduate of the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Being raised fifth generation on her family's cattle ranch in British Columbia, Becky has always had a passion for animals.

After graduation, Dr. Tees completed a one-year equine internship at the prestigious Pioneer Equine Hospital in Oakdale, California. During this time, she immersed herself in diagnostic imaging; taking part in hundreds of ultrasound, radiology, MRI, and CT studies.

Following her internship in 2019, Dr. Tees worked as an associate veterinarian at Energy Equine Veterinary Services until 2026. During those years, she honed her skills in ultrasonography, routinely performing over 250 scans per year. Her diagnostic imaging education remained steadfast as she continued learning from world renowned radiologists, internists, and sports medicine specialists across the world.

Over time, Dr. Tees began developing an interest in small animal medicine, particularly in cardiology and imaging. Dr. Tees obtained her echocardiography training over several months of intense study, learning from cardiologists Dr. Sonya Gordon, June Boon, and Dr. Matt Miller. Dr. Tees has also obtained advanced training in small animal abdominal ultrasound.

Dr. Tees is an active member of the veterinary community. She currently sits on the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Educational Steering Committee and on the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (ABVMA) Complaint Review Committee. Dr. Tees has also completed tenures on the AAEP Performance Horse Committee and the ABVMA Equine Advisory Committee.

Dr. Tees enjoys teaching and has lectured at several continuing education courses regarding equine radiography and ultrasonography, imaging of the equine neck and back, equine podotrochlosis, equine pre-purchase examinations, and has published articles on veterinary culture and business.
